Friday and the Fashion Show-Ese Azenabor

Last night, I attended the Fashionistas First Friday event at a hip, candlelit lounge called The Candleroom. This was the kickoff to a monthly event where local Dallas designers can showcase their latest designs.  The first to debut was Designer Ese Azenabor. I wasn't familar with Azenabor's work but after some googlin' and instagramin' I was excited to see her work in person. The venue was energizing, the music was great, and the fashion themed cocktails were flowing. Also, Azenabor did not disappoint either!  I fell in love with her glamorous gowns, luxurious fabrics, and intricate beadwork detailing. Check out a few of the snaps I took with my cell phone! (Sorry about the quality, real camera coming soon!)

Ese' Azenabor is on her way to New York Fashion Week to debut her Spring/Summer 2015 collection. I'm sure it will be a hit! Find her amazing looks at shopeseazenabor.com.

Tinsley Radix Fashion Show

I love fashion shows! So whenever I can attend one I'm doing a little happy dance because I know its gonna be fun and I will leave with a little more inspiration. I just love the excitement of a great show and I also like to see how other great local designers make it all come together. Of course the cherry on top is the FASHION!

At the last minute, I was able to attend the Tinsley Radix Fashion Show. It was held at the super cool Seven for Parties in the Design District. The place was packed with fashionistas and fashionistos (Uh, is this the correct word for male fashion enthusiats? Idk) mingling, eating fancy hors d'oeuvres, and lightly head bobbing to the music playing by the cute DJ. The emcee was none other than Dallasite Courtney Kerr. You may know her from her blog What Courtney Wore or from reality TV shows such as "Most Eligible Dallas" and "Courtney Loves Dallas". She was funny, bubbly, and sported a cute curly bob!

As far as the collection, it was divine! Whimsical yet chic with a certain feminine ease. I really enjoyed the choice of fabrics, from the glittery to the breezy chiffon and crochet-like lace. Totally wearable and I think every woman could find themselves somewhere in this Spring/Summer Collection.

I rolled in just in time as people were getting last minute cocktails and taking their seats so I was a few rows back and had to peek in between heads to get very few blurry snaps!

Fringe and Skins!

www.tashumbra.com

So as some may know, I make majority of my handbags using vegan leathers and skins. This isn't for any real activist reasons I just think that fashion is just fashion and no need to sacrifice an animal for a bag, right? I've been holding onto the fabric shown above for quite some time. One of the things that I love about fabric shopping is just buying it on the fly not really knowing exactly what I'm going to do with it. I just know that eventually it will inspire me to make something dope!

I was especially gagging when I came across the fringe trim in my stack of forgotten fabrics. I'm loving fringe this season. Fringe skirts, Fringe boots...

Fringe tops, Fringe sandals, Fringe with Fringe...You can do do just about anything with fringe!

Midtown Flair!

Fall is coming upon us in a few months and tartan, plaid, and grid patterns are all on track! I'm a fan of this classic pattern so when I came across this plaid fabric at the fabric store it instantly took me to a Burberry, Cruel Intentions(remember that movie?) prep school sorta place. While we usually reserve these patterns for the Fall/Winter looks, I took this plaid goodness home and made a few clutches that is appropriate for any season! The Midtown Clutch  is one my faves because I love an over sized clutch with multiple uses.  I personally use it for my small laptop and Ipad for those Starbucks work days. Check out the Summer style set I created for this bag below!
Preppy with a little edge is how I would sum up The Midtown Studded Clutch! I made this clutch one of a kind just because I had a few studs left in gold and wanted to see what it would look like to mix the two together.

Are you feeling the plaid trend? Want to have the Midtown Bags in your handbag collection?

FRIDAY ESSENTIAL: WHAT I'D WEAR TO BRUNCH

FRIDAY ESSENTIAL
I like waffles. I also like orange juice but most of all I like orange juice all bubbly
and sparkling with champagne. To top it all off, I like enjoying such things at an event
called Brunch. Where eating breakfast foods way past breakfast hour while gossiping
with the girls or spending time with your sweetie is perfectly okay. When I put this style set together I instantly thought of Brunch on the patio after Sunday service.

Lately, I've been obsessed with nudes and blush tones. For spring and summer, I love pale pinks with pops of peachy colors. Adding a splash of floral print in the form of a clutch or scarf is chic and adds just enough playfulness to your look.

Regardless of your shade, I believe any gal can find some complimentary way to rock these colors in their own way. Since nudes come in about a gazillion colors, dressing in nude can really be a no brainer because its all about keeping it simple and fresh like in these example looks below.
